K9 Patrol Specialist

About the role

The K9 Patrol Specialist is responsible for safeguarding the AUC community by patrolling on‑foot and in vehicles, both on‑ and off‑campus. The role includes handling and training the K9 unit, acting as a liaison with local law enforcement, and providing emergency response support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the health, grooming, diet, and training certifications of the K9 dog(s).
• Conduct foot and mobile patrols of designated areas, responding to incidents and reporting them according to protocol.
• Prepare detailed incident reports, give statements in court, and assist mobile patrol units as needed.
• Collaborate with the Director/Manager of Safety and Security to develop crime‑prevention strategies and update standard operating procedures.
• Provide 24/7 monitoring coverage, including holidays and emergency situations, and may be required to patrol off‑site events.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of security experience; prior law‑enforcement experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and specialized K9 training/certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently, on varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
