Buyer - Food & Beverage Procurement (St. Maarten)

About the role

GateSource HR's Caribbean division is recruiting a Buyer for a strategic client in Sint Maarten. The Buyer oversees sourcing, purchasing and management of food ingredients, packaging materials and other supplies and services needed for production, working with chefs, category managers, finance representatives and other executives to shape the group's procurement strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee RFP and RFQ processes, including bid analysis and price comparison
• Generate purchase requisitions and process purchase orders for equipment and supplies
• Manage logistics and import/export operations, and verify vendor compliance with standards and import requirements
• Ensure vendors meet agreed pricing, payment terms and contractual conditions
• Review and manage supply contracts and maintain open communication with vendors
• Lead monthly inventory counts and use technology to track shipments and stock levels
• Support the SAP implementation project and work with Accounts Payable on invoices
• Prepare procurement reports, promote safety, health and environmental standards, and build stakeholder relationships

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, logistics or a related field
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics or a closely related discipline
• Import/export experience in the Caribbean is a plus; Dutch passport required
• Fluent English (spoken and written); Spanish is a plus

Required skills

• Solid understanding of contracts, invoicing and negotiation
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with SAP is advantageous
